Self Reinforced Polypropylene (srPP)

Don & Low Armordon® srPP fabric utilises coextruded polypropylene tapes. Each individual coextruded tape consists of 3 distinct layers; 2 lower melting point copolymer PP ‘cap’ coats on each outer surface encapsulate a higher melting PP core polymer. As the layers are combined in situ during the coextrusion process, the bond between the higher melting polypropylene core and the lower melting copolymer PP outer cap coat layers is very strong.

Armordon® can be used for a wide range of applications including:

  • Automotive components
  • Panels for ballistic protection and blast containment
  • House construction, particularly as a substitute for timber
  • Containers and passenger luggage
  • Pipe reinforcement
  • Biomimetics
