Don & Low Self Reinforced Polypropylene
Don & Low srPP Armordon® technology utilises co-extruded polypropylene tapes that can be woven into fabric, thermally consolidated and thermoformed into 2 or 3 dimensional structures giving high strength components based on single or multiple fabric ply.
Each co-extruded tape consists of lower melting point cap coats encapsulating a higher melting point polypropylene core. Subsequent downstream thermal processing melts the outer cap coat layers fusing all individual fabric ply together, while leaving the higher melting core intact.
As a result Armordon® tapes and fabrics offer a unique range of properties that can benefit a number of applications, for example blast containment, containers, construction, pipes and automotive. Armordon® is particularly suited to ballistic protection, providing protection from handgun or shotgun threats and reducing the ricochet effect.
