Carpet Backing
Don & Low are the leading manufacturer for Donbac® primary and Lobac® secondary carpet backing.
Both backing types are used in the construction of tufted carpets. During the tufting process, yarn tufts are stitched into primary carpet backing to provide a base cloth to hold the yarn in place. Our range of Donbac® primary backings provide a strong stable cloth for securing yarn tufts.
Secondary carpet backing is affixed to the primary carpet backing using an adhesive. Secondary carpet backing provides further pile-yarn stability and increases stability to the carpet structure. Lobac® secondary backings have an air-texturised weft, which increases bulk and improves precoat absorption.
Carpets incorporated with primary and secondary carpet backing are strong and heavy duty, and are commonly used in commercial and domestic settings.
